CUPOLA project

Mr. Yuan Zhu, from Dr. Chunfei Wu’s research group at Queen’s University Belfast, undertook a visiting student program at Tsinghua University in Dr. Hui Zhou’s research group from November 2023 to March 2024, supported by the EU-rise project. The purpose of Mr. Yuan Zhu’s visit was to conduct scientific research on the application of CaO dual-functional catalysts for CO₂ capture and utilisation. Dr. Hui Zhou’s research at Tsinghua University focuses on carbon neutrality technology and renewable energy utilization, including biomass/waste utilization and CO₂ capture and conversion (in-situ CO₂ absorption enhanced hydrogen production, catalytic-absorption dual-functional materials, CO₂ hydrogenation, and dry reforming). During the visit, Mr. Yuan Zhu received valuable advice from Dr. Zhou, actively participated in scientific seminars, group meetings, and conducted experiments, followed by characterization and testing of the results. The outcomes of this academic visit will be compiled into a paper with the aim of publication in high-impact journals.
