Rocco is visiting Dr Haresh Manyar’s group at Queens University Belfast for characterizing core shell Zn@Ag nanoparticles using different analyses: XRD, FT-IR, TGA, TPR, TPD. He is also running some thermo-reduction tests for the production of hydrocarbons or alcohols.
Daniel is visiting Professor Chunfei Wu’ group for measuring the effectiveness of using non-thermal plasma (NTP) technology in degrading microplastics in water, focusing on the common polymers polystyrene (PS) and polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA). The extent of degradation is measured using spectroscopic methods, such as FTIR, DLS, SEM and Raman. Analysis of the mother liquor will be carried out by MS to investigate the presence of monomeric materials after treatment.
