From 25 July 2026, researchers from AGH University of Krakow participated in research internships at Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST) in Wuhan, China, within the CUPOLA project.

The AGH team included Aleksandra Hudek-Pietras, Bartłomiej Kowal and Konrad Perzyński. An important element of the mobility was the involvement and exchange of experience of PhD students: Aleksandra Hudek-Pietras and Bartłomiej Kowal.

During their stays, the researchers worked at the School of Artificial Intelligence and Automation and the School of Electronic Information and Communications. Their activities focused on advanced computational and numerical methods, data analysis related to marine plastic waste, and the development of modelling approaches supporting recycling and valorisation processes within the CUPOLA project.

The internships provided an excellent opportunity for knowledge exchange between AGH and HUST researchers and PhD students, discussion of research methodologies and identification of new areas for joint research. The mobility also strengthened long-term cooperation between the two universities and created new opportunities for future exchanges, joint publications and interdisciplinary research on carbon-neutral recycling technologies and marine plastic waste valorisation.
